Field Service Technician

Reports to: Technical Services Manager

Job Summary: The Field Service Technician provides professional service and support to client-partners with system installation insight,  guidance, and support, commissioning services, and maintenance support (both corrective and preventative).

This individual utilizes his proficiency with Kemco equipment and systems for mentoring client-partners, conducting “Owner/Operator” training during commissioning as well as other times over the life span of the equipment.

This individual, as Kemco’s primary point of contact during system commissioning and aftermarket service, is also a pivotal resource for retailing spare parts and service contracts.

This team member is also instrumental in sharing facts from commissioning and service calls, resulting in equipment/system improvement and corrections, and is a key player in the sharing “Lessons Learned.”

This position is classified as Full-Time Employee, Non-Exempt, in accordance with company policy. 

Responsibilities: Typical daily responsibilities of the Field Service Technician are as follows:

Commissioning: Customer pre-consultation, site readiness preparation, and startup completion and monitoring including combustion process tuning and documentation, heat exchanger operation, wastewater systems operation, control systems operation, and other system and equipment subcomponents.

Equipment Rehab / Rebuild: Completion of replacement or rebuilding of Kemco electrical and mechanical components. Perform preventative and corrective maintenance or repairs to equipment in Kemco’s product offering.

Training: Acquaint client-partners with normal and abnormal operating conditions as well as corrective and preventative maintenance procedures and documentation.

Equipment Maintenance: Perform upgrades and or planned routine maintenance on the equipment in Kemco’s product offering.

Troubleshooting: Determine causes of equipment faults, planning correction, and resolution of the problems.

Reports: Complete service reports, record repairs, warranty, and maintenance performed. Additionally, complete expense reports. Submit all reports to the supervisor (or his designated alternate.

Requirements: To be successful at completing their job duties, these technicians require the following:

Safety minded and orientated: These individuals approach every project assuring Safety Standards are paramount and precisely utilized.

Technical educational background or equivalent experience with focus on:

  • Operation and maintenance of fluid flow systems, including heat exchangers and pumps
  • Proficiency in electrical and mechanical troubleshooting
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints

“Hands on” experience with Electro-Mechanical experience with pneumatics, hydraulics, AC/DC motor control, PLC’s, VFD’s, Pump Systems and Allen-Bradley Control platforms.

Proficient use hand tools and analyzers

Possess extensive knowledge in Kemco product lines and components

Exemplary customer service skills

Ability to work as a team and individually

Possess extensive knowledge of vendor product lines

Ability to use Microsoft Office programs

Ability to clearly communicate verbally and in writing

The job will include physical elements/requirements, such as lifting to 50 pounds, repetitive bending/reaching, stooping, kneeling, or crouching as well as working on your feet for long
periods of time. 

Overnight travel required (up to 75%).

Work Environment: May occasionally work in temperatures above 100

May occasionally walk on slippery or uneven surfaces.

Will climb ladders and work off elevated surfaces on an occasional basis during each shift.

Noise level in the work environment is frequently loud.

Additional Attributes: Combustion processes operation and experience is a plus

Industrial wastewater treatment operational experience is a plus

Desire to resolve issues quickly and correctly

Good organizational skills
